Pregnancy or maternity photography is a beautiful way to celebrate your body growing and nurturing the precious little human inside. It’s your choice of beaches, parks or a rustic bush scene, using Townsville’s many delightful locations as our backdrops to create stunning memories of this special time for you.

WHEN TO BOOK MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHY

Most of the time, maternity sessions are scheduled between 32 and 34 weeks gestation. That way you will have a beautiful baby bump but will still have enough energy to get involved in the shoot. Of course, this is all very dependent on your comfort and health at this stage. When you book your maternity session, we will aim for the 7 month mark but if your situation changes during your pregnancy, please get in touch and we will try our best to capture images for you when we can.

INCLUDING YOUR FAMILY IN THE SESSION

I absolutely love it when husbands, partners, children or even fur babies are included in your maternity session! You will love sharing this special day with the people that you love. Some of the most special images are those taken with you and your partner or older siblings as you celebrate the last days as your little family of 2 or 3 and prepare for a wonderful, new adventure.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR SESSION

Many maternity clients like to get their hair and makeup done for the session which is a lovely idea. This is of course totally at your discretion and not a necessity but it does add a little wow factor to your images if you’re not an expert on the GHD yourself at home! It’s a great idea to bring along well fitted, nude underwear that we can conceal easily under outfits. A strapless is the best choice or a bra that we can easily adjust or hide straps where necessary. Please make sure that you bring water for yourself and your family! We work quickly during your session so that you aren’t on your feet for too long but you might need a drinks break now and then!

WHAT TO WEAR FOR MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHY

The outfits that you select for your session is a personal choice and will determine the look of your final images. It’s important to wear clothes that you are comfortable in but that you will also love looking back on in the years to come. If you are looking for something more glamorous or dressy for your maternity imagery, I do have a selection of gorgeous gowns to choose from. If you would prefer something more relaxed and natural, you are welcome to bring your own! Maternity imagery often has a WOW factor that traditional family photography doesn’t so it is a perfect opportunity to dress up or wear something that you normally may not. Whatever you decide, we will create some absolutely stunning images for you!
